Aquafield

Today, we celebrated our 10th Valentine's Day together at Aquafield and it was the ultimate relaxing date! 😊

I love celebrating Valentine's Day...just any special day really like anniversaries and birthdays. I heard from someone that they don't celebrate Valentine's Day because it's about how we love and show appreciation to each other everyday and not just one day out of the year. Yes, I totally agree with that. But let's be honest, between the kids, work, errands, and obligations in life, it's hard to give your spouse the attention that they deserve or need daily. I don't know where your relationship or marriage is right now, but it was rough for me and my husband for last couple of years, especially the last year. We were just too tired. So when kids are in bed and dishes are done, both of us just wanted to be alone...mostly to watch tv or be on our phones. And there is nothing wrong with that...except we both settled and were content with an okay marriage. We knew each other's schedules and had a checklist of things we needed to get done. But both of us knew there was something wrong. We were tired both physically and emotionally, and didn't have strength in us to meet each other's needs. We became very short tempered with the kids and grew bitter with each other. But we went on with our life without dealing with our issues because like I said, we were tired and it takes a lot of energy to work out our issues in relationships...and time just went by. And I thank God for these few special days out of the year, for they are good reminders (at least for us) to stop and do something nice and spend quality time together to reconnect and recharge. We all know marriage is hard work and it takes more than just a few special holidays to make it work, but we also need gentle reminders not to give up once in awhile.

I am happy to say that we are doing much better this year. We decided to set a time once a week to talk about our week, our feelings, and to pray. Sometimes the conversations are hard, but it's better than not having them in the long run. My husband and I agree that we don't want to settle for an okay marriage, but we want to have and model a great and exciting one that our kids will admire and wish to have for themselves. Can you imagine what that would be like? We are trying to figure out what that would look like for us.

So, it was such a treat for us to spend time together at Aquafield in Hannam, Starfield Mall, which I will write about after this post. We had fun conversations on our drive going and coming back, swam in the infinity pool and enjoyed jjimjilbang and sauna. We had lots of laughs and had fun together.

Doesn't this look amazing?
He is jumping for joy because you don't need to wear swimming caps or hats here! 😆

There is also an indoor pool with an amazing view which is great for the whole family!

They also have a great nursing room for babies and nursing mamas!

And then we went onto jjimjilbang and sauna. Jjimjilbang is basically a Korean style spa/bathhouse/sauna. One unique thing about jjimjilbang is that it is made up of heated rooms where people go to sweat out and detox. It's one of the favorite ways for Koreans to relax and hang out as a family on weekends. If you have never been to a jjimjilbang before, this is a great one to try it out...hmmm maybe not because you'll be spoiled and will not want to go anywhere else after this one. 😁 We had lunch, relaxed at adults only relaxing room, got a chair massage, drank sikhae (a must when at jjimjilbang), dunked our feet at the outdoor foot spa, enjoyed all the heated rooms and ended our day at the sauna.

Here are some pictures of different jjimjilbangs that they have:

Salt Room (all those bricks are made of salt)

Cloud Room (Don't they look they are floating?)

Charcoal Room

Cypress Room: this room was very refreshing.

Jjimjilbang is also great for the whole family. They have kids play room, plenty of snacks that kids like, have high chairs at the food court, and even baby bath tubs in the sauna!

Kids Zone

The food was decently priced 8,000won to 12,000won and both my husband and I really enjoyed the food.
When you go, you don't need to take anything with you except for your change of clothes. They have everything from shampoo, conditioner, body wash to lotion.

We went on Tuesday and it was still crowded enough and I can't imagine this place on weekends. Overall, Aquafield is a great place if you want a day of rest for yourself or to get away with family, but don't want to travel too far or stay overnight somewhere with the kids. I recommend visiting this place on a weekday if you can.

I hope you enjoyed this post and that I have convinced you to try out a jjimjilbang if you haven't already!
